Rice is a staple food for most of the population
in Indonesia. This means that regardless of the price of rice sold, it will not
affect the consumption trend of the population. Prices at the producer level as
price leaders in the trading chain need to be monitored to obtain price
information at the next level. Therefore, building producer price data and the
Producer Price Index (PPI) is the answer to the demand to separate wholesale
price data and producer prices.
BPS in collecting data at the producer level, one
of which is carried out through the Grain Producer Price Survey. The survey
aims to determine whether the prices that occur in the field are in accordance
with the Government Purchase Price (HPP). Price monitoring is carried out when
a grain sale transaction occurs between the selling farmer and the buyer. The
survey is carried out every month starting from 10-15, weekly period, or during
the main harvest in the range of Monday-Thursday. The variables recorded in
these activities include variety, price at the milling level, harvesting system,
location of grain transactions, water content and so on. In addition to carrying out a Rice Producer Price
Survey, BPS also carries out a Rice Producer Price Survey in Mills. The Rice
Producer Price Survey in the Mills was carried out to obtain data on the price
of rice at the mill level. This activity is held on the 10-15th of every month.
Variables that collected data include the type of rice, the origin of the
grain, the variety of the grain, the selling price of rice, the water content
of the rice and so on. Respondents' participation is important in the
implementation of the Producer Price Survey. The data obtained is very
necessary for the next development planning.
